Ithaca Water Polo Masters Program: Mondays 7:30 - 9:00 pm

The Ithaca Water Polo Masters Program is made up of local adults, former college players, current local college athletes, and alumni from the Ithaca Water Polo youth program. Our co-ed team includes players of all ages. We train together to stay in great shape while having a lot of fun. Most of our practice time is spent in lively scrimmages, with only a short warm-up beforehand. Join us at any time - no sign up required!

Youth Program Overview: Mondays 5:45-6:45 pm (Level 1) and from 6:45-7:45 pm (Level 2)

Youth WP Level 1: COED ages 7-10. Held entirely in the shallow end of the pool or, if held in the deep end, noodles are allowed. This program gives girls and boys, ages 7-10, a chance to experience swimming and water polo! The program will focus on several essential skills such as flutter kick, eggbeater, front crawl, backstroke, strength and endurance, ball handling and basic water polo tactical skills. Fun scrimmages will be part of each practice. This program provides our athletes with the required strength, technique and confidence required for the next level program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to swim one pool length front crawl (no breath control required)

Youth WP Level 2: COED ages 11-14. Held entirely in the deep end of the pool. Swimming skills are refined, endurance is improved, and basic water polo skills are taught in a non-intimidating environment. Practices include skill sessions and scrimmages. Develops the required technical skills and endurance to prepare participants for the next phase of competition (stay tuned for additional offerings!).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to swim two pool lengths front crawl (no breath control required)

  • Must be comfortable in deep end for an extended period

  • Must be able to tread water for 30 seconds (eggbeater preferred)

Swimming ability and confidence vary widely among children at these ages. Please contact Coach Art (ithacawaterpolo@gmail.com) if you’re unsure of which program is the right fit for your child.
