All fun

All welcome

A community pool, a shared legacy, a summer tradition.

The Ithaca Swim Club is more than a place to swim, it’s a community built around connection, cooperation, and generations of summer memories.

Founded in 1968, the Club has been in continuous operation every summer for over five decades. What started as a shared vision for a neighborhood pool has grown into a vibrant, multi-generational gathering place where families grow up together, friendships form, and traditions are passed down year after year.

A Cooperative Community Pool

We are proudly a non-profit cooperative, a model that keeps membership fees accessible while creating a strong sense of ownership and belonging.

As a cooperative:

  • Members contribute a few hours each season to help open, close, and maintain the facility

  • Volunteers serve on the Club board, committees, and leadership roles

  • Members help shape decisions, programming, and the future of the Club

  • Those unable to participate in work parties may opt for a small fee instead

This shared responsibility creates something special:
a pool that belongs to its people - not a corporation.

A place for fun & belonging

Our community is what makes the Club thrive. Members and friends bring their talents, creativity, and energy to the pool each summer, creating a calendar full of meaningful, fun-filled activities.

Past events and traditions include:

  • Tie-dye days

  • Preschool activities

  • Teen parties

  • Pizza parties

  • Ice cream socials

  • Family activities

  • Craft projects

These safe, joyful experiences make the Club more than a pool - they make it a place where summer feels like home.

The traditions that continue across generations.

This is what a cooperative community looks like.
